Kleftiko – The Famous Sea Caves
Kleftiko is one of the most famous landmarks in Milos, known for its towering white cliffs, dramatic sea caves, and mesmerizing turquoise waters. Once a notorious pirate hideout, this breathtaking coastal formation is primarily accessible by boat.
The underwater caves and rock formations make it a paradise for snorkeling and swimming, with many boat tours offering guided explorations of its hidden chambers.
For the truly adventurous, Kleftiko is also accessible by land, but it requires a challenging hike, the trail is rough, rocky, and lacks shade, making it difficult during the hot summer months. However, most visitors opt for a boat tour, as it provides a more comfortable and scenic experience.

Sarakiniko – The Lunar Beach

Bring hat, sunglasses & plenty of water—there’s no natural shade in most of the area! For the best experience, when the weather is hot, visit early morning or late afternoon and capture its dreamlike glow.
Plaka – The Charming Capital

Milos Ancient Theater - Venus de Milo site & Christian Catacombs
The Ancient Theater of Milos, built during the Hellenistic period and later expanded by the Romans, once held 7,000 spectators overlooking the Aegean Sea. Firiplaka & Tsigrado
Firiplaka Beach offers a stunning mix of golden sand, crystal-clear waters, towering cliffs with shades of red, orange, and yellow. The beach is divided into 2 sections: an area with sunbeds and a beach bar, and a quieter, natural stretch for those who prefer solitude. The shallow, warm waters make it ideal for families and swimmers.
Located right next to firiplaka, Tsigrado Beach is a small yet breathtaking cove tucked between steep cliffs on the south coast of Milos. The adventure begins with the thrilling descent down a wooden ladder and rope system, making it one of the most unique beach experiences in Greece. Once you reach the bottom, you’re rewarded with soft white sand and turquoise waters perfect for swimming.Visiting in the early morning ensures fewer crowds and better lighting for photos.

Paleochori – The Volcanic Beach
One of the most geologically fascinating beaches on Milos, Paleochori is famous for its multi-colored cliffs, warm waters, and natural hot springs. The beach is covered in soft sand mixed with small pebbles, while in some places you can see the submarine geothermal activity—and even feel the warmth when you dig your feet into the sand!
The right (western) side of Paliochori is home to a beach bar and sunbed area, with access located before you reach the main beach. The central section features some traditional tavernas & restaurants serving fresh seafood and local specialties, perfect for a seaside meal with breathtaking views. There is also a hotel bar offering a lively atmosphere, cocktails & music. For those seeking tranquility, the left (eastern) side of the beach is more isolated and rugged, with fewer visitors and a peaceful, untouched setting.”

Provatas & Agios Sostis – Golden Sands and Serene Beauty

Agia Kiriaki Beach - A stunning contrast
Agia Kyriaki, sits below the remnants of an ancient volcanic crater. This area of the island is a testament to Milos’ volcanic origins, with the now inactive Kalamos volcano visible nearby. The last eruption occurred around 90,000 years ago, and today, visitors can still witness steam escaping through ground fissures, carrying the distinct scent of sulfur – There is a large area at the right of Agia Kiriaki chapel.
The volcanic past has also shaped the beach’s striking landscape, with fine golden sand and clear blue waters offering a stunning contrast to the rugged, mineral-rich cliffs surrounding it.

Gerakas Beach – A Remote Paradise
Located on the southern coast of Milos, Gerakas Beach is a hidden gem only accessible by boat. This untouched stretch of golden sand and turquoise waters is backed by dramatic volcanic cliffs, creating a surreal setting. Due to its remote location, the beach remains peaceful and uncrowded most of the time during the day, making it perfect for those seeking tranquility. The warm, sulfur-infused sands are a highlight.

The Old Sulfur Mines - Thiorichia Beach
Thiorichia Beach, also known as the Old Sulfur Mines, is one of the most fascinating and eerie locations in Milos. This remote beach is home to abandoned mining buildings, rusted machinery, and bright yellow cliffs, reflecting its history as a major sulfur mining site in the 19th and 20th centuries. The contrast between the ruins and the stunning blue sea creates a surreal, almost post-apocalyptic landscape.
Due to its remote location, it’s best accessed by 4×4 vehicle or boat, the last stretch of the road is steep and rough. If you’re driving a normal car or moto, it’s best to park at the last turn before the downhill descent and walk the final part. This way, you avoid the risk of getting stuck on the rocky terrain while still enjoying the stunning abandoned mining site!

The Remote West Coast – Triades, Ammoudaraki & Agios Ioannis
